Short Film Society Update
Hi everyone! I realize that I have neglected to update you about the Short Film Society, so I wanted to do that today.
We had 22 loglines submitted for our short film. After the community voted, we had a leading 6 to choose from. I ran a 2nd round of voting and we HAVE OUR WINNER.
The Winning Logline is . . .
THE ANTIQUE STORE
(generic title I gave this logline)
Two attractive strangers meet in an antique shop, flirting across the store. When they find themselves looking into the same antique mirror, a future together plays out in front of them, highlighting important moments, the good, the bad and the ugly.
Writer’s Room Updates
Now that we have our idea, any one who submitted interest in being a part of the writer’s room was invited to attend our first meeting. With Adrian Garcia as our writing mentor, we discussed what it means to be a part of the writer’s room, what jobs fill out a room and what they do. We brainstormed about the type of characters we want in our story, what the heart of the short is about and how each of us perceived the ending. We have now had 2 meetings and I’m pleased that we are settling into a rhythm with one another, having spirited and respectful discussions, while challenging, questioning and accepting one another’s ideas and creativity. We can’t wait for our 1st draft to share with you. Stay tuned.
WRITER’S ROOM ASSIGNMENTS (very loose and forever evolving)
Network Execs (aka Mentors) - Adrian Garcia and Elizabeth Mihelich
Showrunners - Bruce Dunn and Bob Crandall
Executive Story Editors - Braydon Walker and Katherine Stahla
Staff Writers - Cody Boterman and Char Bokhof
Our third meeting takes place this week on Wednesday, December 17th at 5:45 - 7:30 PM at the Harmony Library. We all have homework and are so excited by the ideas and the creativity this collaboration is already providing. Please remember that if you want to observe the writer’s room, you are invited to do so on ZOOM or in person.
If you’re interested in being a part of this collaborative Short Film, please fill out this form with your interest and experience.
